Making the switch!

So as some of you may have realised this is a new blog. Why you may ask? I give you 2 reasons…

  1. Blogger was annoying me– this was the main reason. While user friendly in terms of setting it up and just posting it was incredibly irritating to really format anything properly unlike WordPress which is super easy to use and allows advanced formatting.
  2. I wanted to change the name- I realised that the name of my old blog (hello southeast asia) was somewhat limiting and I would have to create a new blog every time I ventured out of the area. As this will happen sooner rather than later and I’m intending on writing in this blog far more frequently I thought I’d change the URL.

So what’s in a name? Mad to Travel was in no means easy to pick but is inspired by a quote from “On the Road” by Jack Kerouac which a friend once told me when we were in fact on the road. It goes like this;

They danced down the streets like dingledodies, and I shambled after as I’ve been doing all my life after people who interest me, because the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones that never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes “Awww!”

I feel a real connection to this quote. It describes my desire to travel, how I am desirous of everything at the same time.
